Philosophy of Teaching and Learning:
As an educator, I would want to create the type of classroom atmosphere that fosters learning. Where students aren’t afraid to voice opinions and are free to be creative and express themselves accordingly. I would want to create a classroom where there is respect for not just the teacher but students respecting themselves as well as each other. As a teacher, I should be available to my students, and not distant. I should not be an authority figure who is feared or deemed unapproachable. I think that as an educator, I should foster learning. I think that a teacher should be inclusive, in that, it must be realized that every student is different—with different learning styles and level of ability. As a teacher, I must recognize this and respond accordingly. Students should be hungry for knowledge and ready to master the material that they are learning. Education today, just goes beyond the three R’s. It involves, not just be a teacher but in some cases a parent, an advisor and a confidant. I realize that and feel that I can function in these capacities and am willing to meet these challenges.

" Passion. It lies in all of us. Sleeping, waiting. And although unwanted, unbidden it

will stir, open its jaws and howl. It speaks to us, it guides us. Passion rules us all
and we obey. What other choice do we have? It hurts sometimes more than we can
bear. If we could live without passion, maybe we could know some kind of peace.
But we would be hollow, empty rooms. Shuttered and dank. Without passion, we'd
                                      be truly dead."
