Family Communication Plan
Student academic achievement and parent involvement are strongly correlated. As a result, a family communication plan is essential to effectively interact with the student's family in order to ensure their success. Students spend about 80% of their day in school therefore parents need to be explicitly aware of how their children are progressing. The following are strategies that I believe facilitate parent teacher communication:
Parents could:
Access Teacher's personal web site to retrieve:
Lesson plans
Daily assignments
Assessment, and Project dates
Teacher e-mail
Links to other helpful web sites
Contact the school to arrange a meeting with the teacher.
Contact the Teacher through voice mail to arrange a meeting
Teacher should:
Regularly correspond with parents to discuss student's progress through
Written correspondence
Telephone
E-mail
Requesting a teacher parent conference
Periodically, contact the student's guidance counselor to update them on the student progress.
Maintain a current web page
