Reflection on the entire Portfolio Process

Part of my teaching philosophy states that knowledge is not a fixed body but rather it is consistently changing. As a result, I wanted my students to be risk takers and generate their own ideas, ask questions and interpret information. To this end,  the development of the electronic portfolio has assisted me in developing stronger insight into the needs of each of my students. By reflecting on each lesson and how students performed I gained a greater appreciation for the variation and diverse talents of each student. The insight and appreciation that I gained through reflecting and evaluating my teaching practices prompted me to incorporate a variety of different teaching strategies and methodologies like cooperative learning groups, pair share groups, inquiry based learning, flex groups, and incorporating technology into the curriculum in order to meet diverse student needs and encourage active learning that promotes the development of critical thinking skills.

I am committed to maintaining this practice of reflecting and evaluating the outcome of each lesson throughout my teaching career as a means by which to revise my instructional strategies and practices to ensure students' acquisition of instructional objectives as well as for professional development.
