My name is Sheryl Cherian and I am seeking a position as a high school math teacher. I graduated from Lehigh University in 2005 with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in music. I recently earned a Masters in Secondary Education through the Technology-Based Teacher Education Program (now Teaching, Learning and Technology Program) at Lehigh University.
I have always loved working with children, and my student-teaching experiences have only served to increase my zeal for teaching. As many of you know, mathematics is a field that is surrounded by stigmas. My goal as an educator is to help students conquer their fear of math, motivate them to develop strong work ethics, and inspire them to succeed not only in the classroom, but in life as well.
This portfolio represents my views of teaching and an overview of my experiences in the classroom. The Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements are broken down into four categories (listed below). The links on the left side of this page show how I have met each of the criteria.
Category I: Planning and Preparation
Category II: Classroom Enviroment
Category III: Instructional Delivery
Category IV: Professionalism
