Although the Lehigh Canal is no longer in industrial use, it still provides the residents of the Lehigh Valley with a means of recreation. Over the years the canal's towpath has been widened to allow for walking, running, and bicycle riding. The canal also offers many opportunities for fishing, observing wildlife, and even ice skating in the winter.
