Community Fellows who are interested in careers in public policy, the non-profit sector or social and political advocacy can earn an interdisciplinary concentration in Policy and Advocacy Studies in addition to their departmental Masters degree.
The objective of the Policy and Advocacy Studies Concentration is to provide students with the interdisciplinary intellectual perspective and the real-world skills necessary for work in the public policy or non-profit sectors. In order to earn the Policy and Advocacy Studies Concentration, Fellows must successfully complete Methods/Research Design and two additional courses in Inequality, Public Finance, Policy Analysis or Theories of Advocacy. Fellows may also arrange Independent Study with individual faculty in the participating departments. Students who wish to earn the Policy and Advocacy Studies concentration
should mention the concentration in their letter of interest in the Community Fellows Program,
which should be submitted with their graduate school application. Each department has its own
