The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is a way for faculty to be more experimental, reflective, and public about their teaching. The idea, in short, is that faculty benefit when they begin thinking about their teaching as a form of scholarship, which, ideally, means reflecting on what's working and what's not in their classroom, experimenting with new teaching approaches, measuring the outcomes, and sharing their results with others.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at Lehigh. We provide a number of ways to help Faculty participate in SoTL activities. Our Faculty Development workshops, seminars, and brownbag lunches all offer venues in which faculty can learn more about teaching and share their own expertise with others. Moreover, the resources of the Lehigh Lab are available to faculty who need help undertaking a project involving innovative technologies or techniques. Finally, we also provide support for faculty who wish to attend conferences, set up formal SoTL projects, or publish the fruits of their resources. Contact the Director for more information.
