ESEI

A perfect storm is looming on the horizon for the energy and power industry; a "brain drain" encroaching at a time when innovative thinking from this field impacts issues of national security and economic growth.

The Energy Systems Engineering Institute (ESEI) -- a center of excellence in energy systems engineering at Lehigh University -- represents a novel partnership between industry and academia. The development of targeted research projects serves as an entry point into the field for talented young innovators, and a source for firms to explore new skill sets and solutions required for success with emerging technologies and approaches.

The ESEI pursues these objectives:

Research
To connect top-notch faculty, researchers, industry practitioners, and students interested in research projects crucial to energy and power systems

Education (M.Eng, Energy Systems Engineering)
To prepare young minds for the emerging challenges of the energy and power industries through an innovative Professional Master's Program geared toward real-world industry needs

Service
To address industry concerns through workforce and technology development, entrepreneurship, concept demonstrations, cross-industry studies, and other forms of mentorship and knowledge transfer

The ESEI was developed in consultation with several major energy companies and the Electric Power Research Institute, a non-profit research institution of the electric power sector.
