Opening Scene of Movie-- Jim's Poem

The mindless voice announced
All those unseated will await the next show
We filed slowly, languidly into the hall
The auditorium was vast and silent
As we seated and were darkened, the voice continued
The program for this evening is not new
You've seen this entertainment through and through
You've seen your birth your life and death
You might recall all of the rest
Did you have a good world when you died?
Enough to base a movie on?….

The ceremony is about to begin

Beach Scene Where Jim and Ray Form the Band

Ray-- Those are great fucking lyrics, man
Jim-- Yeah?
Ray-- Yeah.  Did you write this?  You got others in here?
Jim-- Yeah, a bunch.  I got a whole concert in my head you know.  I see it all Ray.
Ray-- What the hell happened in the desert man?  Lets get a rock and roll band together and make a million bucks!
things are about to explode Jim!  You can feel it in the air!  People want to fight or fuck, love or kill.  Vietnam is, man.  right out there Sides are being chosen.  Everything is gonna flame, man, and the planet is screaming for change!  Morrison, we gotta make the myths.
Jim-- There'll be great orgies, man, like when Dionyses arrived in Greece.  It made all the women mad—leaving their
homes and dancing off into the mountains.  There should be great, golden copulation in the streets of LA, man.
Ray-- We should call ourselves Dionyses, man.
Jim-- I got a name: The Doors
Ray-- You mean the doors in your mind?
Jim-- The doors of perception-acid!  Well, the quote is from William Blake, actually.  When the doors of perception are cleansed, things will appear as they truly are.
Ray-- Infinite!  I like it!
 
 

Band is Getting High in the Desert (Jim's Monologue)

“Close your eyes…see the snake.  See the serpent appear?  That is ten feet long and five feet wide.  He has one red eye and one green eye.  He's seven miles long.  Deadly.  See it?  All the history of the world is on his scales.  All the people, all the actions—we’re all just little pictures on his scales!  God, he's big!  He's moving.  Devouring consciousness…digesting power!  Monster of energy!  It’s a monster.  Kiss the snake on the tongue.  Kiss the snake.  But if it senses fear, it will eat us instantly.  But if we kiss it without fear, it will take us through the garden, through the gate to the other side.  Ride the snake—to the other side.”
