Suzanna M. Klingensmith, daughter of Marshall and Cassandra Klingensmith, was born in Pittsburgh, PA. She was raised in New Kensington, PA where she attended Kiski Area High School. During high school, she was involved in many extracurricular activities. She was an avid athlete, participating in basketball, softball, volleyball, and track and field. In addition, Suzanna was a member of the school choir and a member of the National Honor Society. She was graduated from Kiski Area High School in June 1998 and headed to Lehigh University to continue her education. It was during her freshman year at Lehigh University, that she was first exposed to and eventually became intrigued in Materials Science and Engineering. She was inducted into Alpha Sigma Mu honor society during her senior year and was awarded the 2002 Alan S. Quier prize for her significant improvement in academic performance as an upperclassman. In addition to her studies, Suzanna continued to nourish her love of sports by competing for the Division I Women’s Varsity Track and Field Team. She was named as All-Patriot League in the Women’s Javelin 1999-2002, qualified to compete and placed 8th at the East Coast Athletic Conference Championships in 1999, and held the Women’s Javelin Record at Lehigh from 2000-2003. In addition she was named as a Patriot League Scholar Athlete during all 4 years of her participation on the varsity track and field team. Suzanna graduated from Lehigh University in June 2002 with her Bachelors degree in Materials Science and Engineering. That August, Suzanna began her graduate studies at Lehigh University, where she is currently working in the Masters Program in Materials Science and Engineering. |
