Research

The School Psychology Program faculty are very active at seeking and receiving grant support. These grants serve to facilitate both the research and training agenda of the program. Many of these projects involve students working with children and families from ethnically and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Listed below are some of these projects on which current students are supported:

LEADERSHIP PROJECT IN PEDIATRIC SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY:
U.S. Department of Education and Training Project for selected doctoral students interested in completing an endorsement in this specialization area of the program (Drs. DuPaul and Shapiro)

PROJECT REACH: NATIONAL CENTER FOR INTENSIVE INTERVENTIONS:
A U.S. Department of Education research project that is examining what are the most effective interventions for students with severe emotional and behavioral problems. The interventions will be implemented in schools with logitudinal follow-up. (Dr. Lee Kern, Special Education)

CENTER FOR PROMOTING RESEARCH TO PRACTICE - SCHOOLS, FAMILIES, COMMUNITIES:
A Lehigh University research center which houses numerous grants and projects dedicated to bringing research to practice. (Dr. Shapiro)

PROJECT PASS:
A NIMH grant to examine academic interventions for students with ADHD. (Dr. DuPaul)

PROJECT ACHIEVE:
NIH Funded research project on psychosocial interventions for young children at-risk for ADHD. (Dr. DuPaul)

LOW INCIDENCE TRAINING GRANT:
A U.S. Department of Education Training Project for first and second year Ed.S. students interested in attaining a specialization in working with students with low incidence disabilities including autism, severe physical disabilities, and cognitive deficits. (Drs. Cole and Shapiro)
