Edward S. Shapiro, Professor in the school psychology program and director of the Center for Promoting Research to Practice received a U.S. Department of Education grant Project MP3: Monitoring Progress in Pennsylvania Pupils – A Multi-Tiered Model for Progress Monitoring from Preschool through Grade 4. The emphasis of the project is on demonstrating how a multi-tiered model designed to identify children at-risk for reading problems will be implemented from preschool (age 3) through grade 4 in six elementary schools and their feeder preschool programs across two diverse school districts. The project involves a partnership between Lehigh University’s Center for Promoting Research to Practice, the University of Pittsburgh, the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Association Network, and two school districts; the Uniontown School District and the Central Dauphin Area School District. The three year grant is in the amount of $1.2 million.
