To Members of the Lehigh Community
As an institution committed to intellectual development, it is our responsibility to challenge ourselves to understand the world as well as to create and nurture meaningful relationships with people from all walks of life.
This commitment must transcend the classroom, the laboratory, the office, the playing field, and the residence. We must strive to provide working and learning experiences that shape and broaden our views of the world and inspire a commitment to the greater good.
The only way that this change will become a reality is if we are all committed to it. We are each responsible for upholding our values and creating an environment of mutual respect. Lehigh is a place where hard work is respected, where people are expected to be independent and do things for themselves. But Lehigh is also a place where compassion is abundant. We respect each other's independence, but we look out for one another and share in our successes and our struggles.
We all share the responsibility to build a strong and inclusive community at Lehigh. Lehigh's senior leadership and I are committed to working with the CEC to make this a reality. I urge to you make that same commitment.
