Announcements:
  • Following a lengthy and thorough national search, Lehigh University has named Liz Meltzer as the Steven J. ’69 and Karen A. Lee Head Rowing Coach.

  • Meltzer immediately appointed Jason Moorehead as the program’s Head Men’s Varsity Coach.  Moorehead has been an assistant at Lehigh for the past seven years.
  • "I am honored to be appointed to lead the rowing program at Lehigh University and am excited to build on the successful traditions that Paul Savell instilled during his time as the Head Coach,” Meltzer said.

  • “I know I am inheriting a stable program that enjoys the support of the Lehigh University Athletic Department and is full of stellar student athletes.  I plan to build on our successful spring season by promoting a team culture that is deliberate in our acquisition of boat speed and relentless in our pursuit of excellence in all endeavors, be it on the water or in the classroom.”

  • Liz has been the Assistant Varsity Coach since the 2005-2006 season, and was the Head Coach of the American University Crew Team in Washington D.C. for the three years previous to that.  Meltzer attended The Johns Hopkins University where she was a four year letter winner and the captain of crew.  She received her Masters Degree in Health Promotion Management from American University.

  • Jason Moorehead has been an assistant at Lehigh for the past seven years.  “It is my pleasure to appoint Jason Moorehead as Head Coach of the men's team,” Meltzer explained.  “He has demonstrated his commitment to Lehigh and the well being of the student-athletes in every role he has played during the past seven years.  During his time with the Lehigh Crew, Jason has been very successful on the freshman level and I am confident that he will be able to produce fast varsity crews consistently.”  

  • At the beginning of this summer of 2007, we announced the departure of former Head Coach Paul Savell. Paul will be taking the position of the Director of Men's and Women's Rowing at Drexel University. Coach Savell was much loved by the team and its supporters, and the team came far under his direction.

  • Phil Bresnahan, President of the 06-07 Lehigh Crew team, gave a great motivational speech at the annual 2007 Lehigh Crew banquet held this past March 3rd...a speech certainly worth reading: 
    "...Tonight is not about looking back, it's about looking forward.  It is time for us to stop chasing the fastest teams that we race and realize we are the fastest team that we race.  It is time for us to start leading the chase..."

  • This year's speaker for the 2007 crew banquet was Jason Read, the bow seat of the 2004 Olympic gold medal eight. Jason gave a fascinating speech about his experience as a rower, with insight of what the experience has meant to him and what it took to get there...
