CPN: Sherman Fairchild Laboratory for Solid State Studies
The Sherman Fairchild Lab contains these research resources:
- Display Research Lab
Researchers in this lab pursue the design and development of devices, circuits and very large scale integrated systems on stainless steel foil substrates mainly employing polysilicon Thin Film Transistor (TFT) technology.
- Organic Photonics Lab
This lab specializes in light-matter interaction effects in materials ranging from polar crystals to molecular organic crystals, individual molecules, polymers, and organic light emitting diodes. Researchers use picosecond-long laser pulses with a wavelengths that can be set over the whole visible and infrared spectral range -- between 400 nanometers and 2 micrometers -- to create and detect various kind of excitations in these materials, including nonlinear optical effects, photocurrents, and charge-transport.
