My Little Butterfly

My Little Butterfly

Free from the fetters which have us bound
To the threatening sky and the lonely ground,
This limitless universe, where your spirit does fly,
When did you inherit it - my little butterfly?

To the White Lily and the Black Rose you did utter
Something that was inaudible in my clutter,
Black and White were separated before your purity did belie,
When did you see the oneness- my little butterfly?

The vibrant red, the solemn blue,
Your wings are moods of different hue,
Diversity, thy secret in an abyss does lie,
When did you discover it- my little butterfly?
Anna Amalia - so sweet is your name,
Uninhibited spirit, your proprietorship none can claim,
I bow to you, as joyous tears from my eyes roll by,
When will I caress you- my little butterfly?
