Engineering Summer Camp for
Middle-School Girls

The Summer CHOICES Engineering Camp is a popular hands-on learning experience in engineering and science for 6th, 7th, or 8th grade middle-school girls.

The CHOICES summer camp is designed to provide girls with the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun engineering and science experiments led by women engineers (students and faculty) from Lehigh University's P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science.

What's more, collaboration with the NASA Goddard Space Center SISTER program offers even more opportunity to make new friends while learning what science and engineering could mean to your future.


Throughout this week-long camp, the girls will be introduced to a variety of fun and challenging activities that are organized by engineering mentors. Past projects have included:

  • Rube Goldberg Projects - Engineering
  • Buliding a water tower - Structural Engineering
  • Assembling & testing fruit batteries - Materials Science Engineering
  • Building a Burglar Alarm - Electrical Engineering
  • Developing a new funny putty- Chemical Engineering
  • Programming a robot - Computer Engineering
  • Purifying muddy water - Civil & Environmental Engineering

    • The camp is limited to 20 girls who will work on a combination of individual and team projects throughout the week. On the last day, after lunch, teams present their accomplishments before Lehigh staff and invited family and friends.

    The Summer CHOICES program is now in its 9th year and is more popular than ever, so please register soon as space is limited.

    Registration fee: $200 (due upon registration)
    Check, credit card & money orders accepted. Fee covers lunch & supplies.

    Age Limitation
    Participants must be in Grade 6, 7, or 8 as of January 2012
