Wedding Information: Packer Memorial Church 

Reserving Packer Memorial Church, Lehigh University, for a wedding is restricted to the following persons:

1. Lehigh students, alumni, faculty, and staff and their immediate family members (children of faculty/staff./alumni, mother, father, sister, brother, grandparents.)  (For a Roman Catholic wedding, bride or groom only must be a graduate of Lehigh to be eligible.  Children of faculty or staff are not eligible unless they themselves are graduates of Lehigh. This applies only to Catholic weddings.)
2. Alumni requesting the University Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Lloyd H. Steffen. (610-758-3877) (must be approved according to university guidelines)
3. Alumni requesting the Newman Hall Chaplain, Rev. Wayne Killian,  (610-758-4148) and for whom the university is considered their parish. See #1 for eligibilty for catholic wedding.
4. The chapel is not available for non-religious wedding ceremonies by a judge or justice of the peace.
5. Weddings must  be reserved through the office of the university chaplain only .

Reservations:  We are currently booking for 2012/13 only. However there are certain dates for 2013 that remain unavailable due to university events that are not in place yet. Messages of request can be sent to sas2@lehigh.edu or you can call Sally Schray at 610-758-3877 Monday-Friday - 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1:00-4:00 p.m.  Reservations for 2014 will not begin until late January 2013.   All emails and calls are returned in the order they are received.

As you know, during the summer months Lehigh makes necessary repairs and improvements to buildings and grounds in preparation for the upcoming school year. We will keep you updated as we become aware of these things happening  and attempt to provide information about the projects that are going on during the summer directly around the Packer Memorial Church area. 

      ATTENTION TO ALL WEDDING PARTIES

•  Vehicles may use the pedestrian walkway to drop-off and pick-up passengers at Packer Church prior to your  wedding and directly after your wedding.     
  
•  Drivers must be mindful of the pedestrian nature of this area and proceed slowly, with caution.  The recommended approach is to access the walkway from the west via Memorial Drive, proceed east and then north to Packer Church.  The alternate access would be to proceed south from Packer Avenue on the Pedestrian walkway.  If this route is chosen, the vehicle must exit the area by going west to Memorial Drive, exiting onto Brodhead Avenue.
  
 In either case, vehicles must not remain parked in front of the church during the event.  Limo/trolley/shuttle bus parking during the wedding can be on Packer Avenue or in the paved area between Packer Church and the Philosophy building.
• Anyone not adhering to this parking regulation will be subject to fines and/or towing.
• Packer Avenue will be the only source for parking of your guests.
• Handicapped parking will continue to be available in the Chandler parking lot.
• If use of the handicapped entrance is needed, guests will have to travel down Packer Avenue and make a right on Taylor Street.  You will see a sign on your right hand side that says "entrance to Chandler/Ullman parking lot" - make an immediate right and follow to the end of the lot that faces the back of Packer Chapel.  You may drop your guest in that area - it is a flat area and they can walk to the handicapped entrance. Drivers will then exit left to Williams Drive and back to Taylor Street and Packer Avenue if parking is not available in the Chandler Lot.

From Route 22 East or West:

Take Route 378 South for approximately 3.6 miles coming off onto the Hill-to-Hill Bridge staying in the left lane marked “third street.”  Bear left at the green arrow light and continue to next light getting in the right lane and make a right at the Comfort Suites. This is Brodhead Avenue.  Come up to and threw the next light to the 4-way stop sign.  This will be Brodhead and Packer Avenue.  Make a left turn and continue down Packer Avenue to first stop sign.  This is the entrance to Lehigh’s campus and Packer Church sits right inside the stone entrance on the left side. * Parking is recommended along Packer Avenue or any one of the open lots around the campus.

From Route I-78 East or West:

Take the Hellertown exit. (#67)  Turn right at the end of the exit ramp.  This brings you onto Route 412 North.  Follows signs for 412-when you come to the bridge you will bear to the right down the hill continuing on Rt. 412 N.  (Do not cross the bridge).  Route 412 becomes Third Street.  Follow until you come to the light at the Comfort Suites, (on your left)  approximately 2 miles.  You will turn left at the Comfort Suites and come up threw the next light to the 4-way stop sign.  Follow directions from above when coming to the 4-way at Packer Avenue.

From the South:

Route 309 N  to Center Valley.  Turn/Bear to right onto Route 378 N to Bethlehem.  Follow Route 378 N  up over the Mountain coming into Bethlehem.  After the stop light at the top of the mountain (former gas station on your right at light), you will begin a decline down into Bethlehem.  At the second set of yellow blinking lights, turn right onto Summit Street.  At the end of Summit Street, turn left at stop sign and come down the hill to the 4-way stop sign making a right onto Packer Avenue.  Continue down Packer Avenue to the first stop sign. Chapel is inside entrance gate on left side.   See directions from above for parking.*

Directions to Packer Chapel can be found on Mapquest.  However the church is on private property and the directions will not bring you directly to 18 University Drive – it is not listed as a mailing address. Directions will bring you only to University Drive which circles through the campus.  Please follow directions from above at Packer Avenue and Brodhead.
