Select group of 12 heading to the Republic of Slovenia in May
CEE congratulates Thomas Courter-Jawin ’14, Agustin Villarreal ’14, and Alexander Niewiarowski ’14 (left to right in photo) on their appointment to the Martindale Student Associates Program.
The trio joins eight other students selected from across the university to travel to the Republic of Slovenia in May. Applicants are chosen based on their academic records, the quality of their essays about business and economic problems, and their responses in an interview with faculty advisers.
The research group’s task is to complete a report on a variety of Slovenian business, economic and social issues. Their findings will be published in the prestigious undergraduate journal Perspectives on Business and Economics.
The students will attend briefings at the U.S. Department of State, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, and the European External Action Service in Washington, D.C. before they depart for Slovenia, where they will meet with leaders from institutions, government and business.
Courter-Jawin is an environmental engineering major, Villarreal is a civil engineering major, and Niewiarowski is a dual-degree major in civil engineering and architecture.
