The Departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering and of Art and Architecture are jointly seeking highly qualified candidates for the Fazlur Rahman Khan Chair. The Khan Chair is a tenure track faculty chair. The successful candidate will have a world-class research reputation and be an excellent teacher able to mentor students at all levels. He or she will be expected to bring innovative ideas to the classroom, studio and research venues, and to make creative contributions while working with an interdisciplinary focus at the intersection of structural engineering and architecture. The Khan Chair faculty member is expected to be active in teaching & research in both the Civil and Environmental Engineering department and the Art & Architecture department. He or she will have a home department appointment in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a joint appointment in Art and Architecture.
Effective teaching and communication skills along with a demonstrated track record of accomplishment in structural engineering and architectural research or significant innovative professional developments in structural engineering and architecture are critical requirement for Khan Chair applicants. We are seeking applicants who are well recognized for their accomplishments, and are at the midpoint of their career. Successful applicants will hold a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a specialization in structures and expertise in architecture and well-established research credentials. We are seeking highly qualified candidates with significant expertise in both structural engineering and in architecture, an individual who will build and lead integrated teams of faculty and students who will creatively enhance, and extend our current capabilities.
