Rules for Waiver of Prerequisites

1.  All new and continuing students must take the Accounting Proficiency exam to earn a waiver for the accounting prerequisite even if they have had an accounting course within the last five years.

2.   Students must earn a grade of 80 or above to pass the proficiency exam. If a student fails the proficiency exam twice, the student must take GBUS 401. No other courses will be accepted.

3. Students who choose to take a course to fulfill the prerequisite are encouraged to take GBUS 401 at Lehigh. You must earn a grade of “C” or better to pass the course. If you choose to take an accounting course at the undergraduate level or at another approved school, you will be required to earn a grade of “B” or better and take the proficiency exam in addition to the course.

To fulfill the statistics prerequisite, students may take ECO 401 at Lehigh, an approved course at another school or take the proficiency exam to waive the requirement. A waiver will be given if an approved statistics course has been taken within 5 years of entering the MBA program. A grade of “B” or better must be earned to qualify for a waiver.

In order to get a course outside of Lehigh approved for waiver, students must provide a course description and a syllabus for the proper semester before the start of class. Failure to obtain approval before you take the course may result in retaking the course at Lehigh or at another approved school. After you have completed the course, please have your official transcript forwarded to the Graduate Programs Office, College of Business & Economics, 621 Taylor Street , Bethlehem , PA 18015 .
