The cost of drugs as a percentage of total health care spending has
doubled in the last two decades. To reduce the cost of prescription
drug plans, governments and health care insurers are beginning to
implement programs that attempt to control the costs of reimbursement
drugs.
While these programs may reduce expenditures for prescription drugs,
patients, physicians, and pharmaceutical companies are concerned these
programs focus on reducing drug product costs without regard for patient
care. There are additional concerns on the incentives to discover and
develop new drugs and medical treatments.
Is there a balanced solution?
We invite you to join your colleagues on Thursday, April 15, 2004, for
"Health Care Policy, a Changing Market, and Prospects for Biotech."
Hosted by the Martindale Center in the College of Business and Economics
at Lehigh University, this conference will bring together leading
pharmaceutical representatives who will address these issues. Seating is
limited and we suggest advanced registration.
