11.11.11 A SPECIAL VETERAN'S DAY ON SOUTH MOUNTAIN

The Lehigh community honors its members of the armed forces.

It always gives me pause as I anticipate the ushering in of the holiday season with the celebration of Thanksgiving. It is so easy to get caught up in the issues of the day and overlook that there are many reasons to be thankful.

We recognize the commitment and dedication of our armed forces as something for which we are very thankful. On Veteran's Day this year, 11.11.11, the university formally thanked those members of the Lehigh family who are active, reserve and retired members of the military.

A wonderful luncheon, organized by CBE faculty member Frank Gunter, associate professor of economics and retired US Marine Corp Colonel, marked the day and started a new great tradition on South Mountain. Attended by President Alice Gast, the recognition of those currently serving or who served in the past was a very special moment on campus.

On behalf of all faculty and staff in the College, I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.

Best,
Paul
