"Beta Theta Pi was founded by eight young men on August 8, 1839, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Over the past 160-plus years, Beta has been a pioneering fraternity, earning distinct honor and recognition for individual and chapter achievement. Founded upon principles of intellectual development, mutual assistance, unsullied friendship and unfaltering fidelity, the Fraternity has continually sought to better young men through social interdependence and interaction. These relationships rest on a foundation of mutual trust and personal accountability."
