Lehigh-Pool Scholars Premedical Education Program
In a unique partnership, Lehigh University and Lehigh
Valley Hospital have established a joint pre-med program, a
"New Paradigm for Pre-Medical Training: Building an Academic-Practitioner
Bridge for Undergraduates." Project-based, experiential learning
is the driving educational philosophy behind the Lehigh-Pool Scholars
Premedical Education Program. Highlights include: - Three years
of combined biomedical research/internship experiences
- Guaranteed, paid summer research opportunities ($3,000 per summer)
that will provide practical experience in biomedical settings
to promote and accelerate skill development
- Joint faculty and physician advising
- Special courses in modern medical economics, business practices,
and ethics
- Travel to major professional society meetings to present research
and learn about state-of-the-art developments
- A lecture/dinner series that will include special, individual
sessions with distinguished speakers
This is a highly competitive program open to a limited
number of outstanding strongly motivated students.
