Class of 1999

The three-week four-credit course taught in Israel examines the impact Near Eastern archaeology has on the study of the Bible, Judaism, and Christianity. Students visit archaeological digs and numerous ancient sites important in the history of early Judaism and Christianity.

The group stays in Jerusalem near the Old City, except for two nights at Kibbutz Ayelet Hashahar in Tiberias in the Galilee. In 2000 the cost for tuition, transportation, housing, and some meals was $3600. Lehigh undergraduates receive a subvention from the Howard Ballenzweig Memorial Fund for Study in Israel. This year the subvention was $750. Students with financial need may apply for additional support.
