Nano for Business 2010 conference

The third Nano for Business conference drew more than 100 representatives of industry, education, and science to Lehigh University's Iacocca Hall May 26, 2010. The conference explored nanotechnology market trends, commercial applications such as clean tech and life sciences, funding mechanisms, and partnership opportunities. It featured panels on topics such as alternative energy, health and safety, research and education resources, financing, training, workforce development, and partnerships.

Thomas O. Armstrong, technology development specialist and university liaison/nanotech program manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, delivered a keynote address on "Pennsylvania's Initiative for Nanotechnology." Pennsylvania is projected to produce $7.15 billion in nanotechnology products by 2015, Armstrong said. Master of Ceremonies for the event was Chuck Picardi, partner, SP3 Technologies and Material Complexions president.

Nano for Business 2010 was sponsored by the Lehigh Nanotech Network, an affiliate of the Center for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology at Lehigh University.
