Re: FLAG PARADE

2009/10/30 Güliz Uncu <gulizuncu@gmail.com>
Dear AIS members,

During International Week, GU is preparing to have a flag parade on Wednesday Nov. 11th at 4:10 to promote global awareness and celebrate diversity at Lehigh. And AIS is co-sponsoring this event. ais

So what is the FLAG PARADE?

It is a walk around campus with the marching band, starting at Rauch Business Center. (It won't take than 20 min.) We will be carrying flags to represent our country or just to represent the diversity at Lehigh.

Do I need to be an INTERNATIONAL STUDENT to take part in this?
NOOOO, you don't need to be an international student. American students are greatly appreciated.

What if I don't have a flag?
IT IS OK, we will provide you the flags.

It would be great, if you can take part in this to make the parade successful.
There will be also refreshments (=FREE FOOD) provided after the parade.

To sign up for the parade, please send an email to Dat Hoang dth212@lehigh.edu or me (guu212) no later than Tuesday, November 3rd. Please indicate the country you are representing in the email.

Thank you very much,
And HAPPY HALLOWEEEEEEEN!!

[AIS-L] AIS General Meeting

Dear AIS Members,
This is a friendly reminder that we will be having a GENERAL MEETING.

Date: Wednesday, October 21st
Time: 5:30
Place: Maginnes 105

Those who signed up for the Social Committee will meet at MG 105 place but at 5pm. They will be discussing international week events as well as initial preparation for International Awareness week.

General Meeting Agenda:
1.Soccer Tournament
2.Lehigh-Laf BBQ+Olympics Sign-up
3.Discussion about the diffuculties that International Students face at Lehigh.

The Eboard has been discussing writing a proposal to either to President Gast, the Provost or the Dean of Student Affairs to ask for more attention to International Students on campus. We will be talking about issues students face when they first come to campus ( finding your way to Lehigh and dragging your luaggage to campus by yourself), moving in, staying on campus during breaks when there isn't any dining hall open or other things to do etc.
We would really appreciate it if you come with some ideas of things that you think Lehigh should be paying more attention to in terms of the needs of international students. All of your complaints and suggested solutions are going to be taken into consideration to be included in the proposal. The whole point of this proposal is to enhance the International Student experience at Lehigh so please help us out by speaking up and letting us know what's on your mind.

   4.Elections

Elections will take place in this order;

*Nicole Villacorta
*Kevin Hang
*Yassira Alaziz
*David Gan
*Yusuf Erkli
*Ipek Nergiz
*Javier Valladares
Get ready to give a very brief speech on why you think that you are the best for the position.

Thanks,
Hope to see you all soon,
Guliz Uncu,
AIS Secretary
