Housing Withdrawal
Housing Withdrawal (Residence Hall and Greek)
Students occupying university housing facilities who withdraw or take
a leave of absence are given 24 hours from the time of withdrawal to
complete the Check-Out Procedures listed below. Students who are
suspended, expelled or are otherwise dismissed from the university are
required to remove their belongings from their residence and return
keys immediately. The Dean of Students or the Office of Residential
Services may allow additional time on a case-by-case basis.
Check-Out Procedures:
All personal property must be completely removed from the room. This
includes student furniture, carpets, lofts, etc. Check all desk and
dresser drawers and closets to make sure that all personal belongings
are removed. Lehigh University is not responsible for any personal
items left behind.
All room furnishings must be present, reassembled, in good condition
and returned as close as possible to original placement.
The room should be clean and trash discarded in popper receptacles.
An inspection will conducted by Residential Services/Residence Life
Staff following your departure. Charges will be assessed to you if
any items appear to be student damage or if excessive cleaning is
required.
If you rented a Microfridge from Campus Specialties, it is your
responsibility to contact them (800)525-7307 to pick up the unit. Do
not leave it with someone else. You are financially responsible for
the unit.
All keys that were issued to you must be returned to the University
Police or the Office of Residential Services PRIOR to your departure.
The charge for not returning a key is $35.
Room Refund:
If eligible, refund of room charges will not be considered until the
room is vacated and all keys issued have been returned. Calculation of
any proportionate refund will be determined by such date. (See the
Student Handbook: Financial Responsibility – Residence Hall Housing
Deposit / Room Refunds)
Future Housing:
Students who withdraw or take a leave of absence in the Fall semester
and returns in the following Spring semester MUST contact the Office
of Residential Services directly regarding housing arrangements.
Housing contracts are signed for a full academic year which obligates
the student to reside in university housing upon their return for the
spring.
Committee on the Standing of Students
The Committee on the Standing of Students (SOS) Blue Petition Form
**If you have difficulty with the link, please contact inacsup@lehigh.edu You can also obtain hard copies in UC 210 or your college Associate Dean’s office.
The SOS Committee meets every other Thursday over the summer. If you
have a petition you would like us to consider, please print out the
form and complete it as directed.
Since students are not present in the SOS meetings, the information
you give to the Associate Dean is extremely important when discussing
your petitions. Completed petitions are due by 4:00pm on the Tuesday
before the SOS meeting. Please see below for this semester’s scheduled
meetings. Meeting dates may change as needed.
Please be sure to get the required signatures, with the
exception of the Dean of Students slot. After receiving instructor
(where required), advisor, and college Associate Dean signatures,
deliver the petition to the Registrar's office for review and
signature. The Registrar's office will deliver the forms to the
office of the Associate Dean of Students. This form must be printed
and signed by hand because it is important that you talk with the
appropriate people when obtaining their signatures. In cases where it
is not possible to get physical signatures, students may request
e-mail responses in place of written signature.
You are welcome to contact the Associate Dean of Students to ask questions about the process or discuss your petition.

Absence
If you need to miss a class or a day of classes due to illness, athletic competition, personal issue, or other appropriate reason, it is extremely important that you contact your instructor as soon as possible. The Office of Academic Support Services suggests that you contact your instructor by email before you miss the class. A Report of Student Absence form is available in the office to assist that process.
Please note that the Health Center does not issue medical excuses.
Students missing three or more days of classes need to contact the Associate Dean as soon as possible. They can assist you in notifying instructors as necessary. Good communication is key. Please keep your instructor and the Dean informed of any extenuating circumstances. For the complete Attendance and Make-up Exam policy and additional academic policies and standards, please refer to the Student Handbook.
