Serving the Youth of the Greater Lehigh Valley
The High School Scholars program provides the opportunity for qualified and motivated high school students to take college level courses during their senior year at Lehigh University. Rising seniors are nominated by local high schools. The admitted students may take one course each semester at the university tuition free.
Lehigh Valley Science & Engineering Research Fair
The purpose of the Science and Engineering Fair is to increase awareness in the areas of mathematics, science, technology, and engineering, and motivate area students in grade 6-12 to pursue careers in these fields. Sponsored by Lehigh University and Insaco, Inc., the fair is held once a year in Rauch Fieldhouse at Lehigh University and has approximately 550 participants each year. Winners have the opportunity to participate in the Delaware Valley Fair and potentially, the International Science and Engineering Fair.
S.T.A.R. Academy
In the fall of 1989, Lehigh University welcomed 20 teacher-nominated students from Broughal Middle School to the first session of the S.T.A.R. Academy. Fifteen years later, the S.T.A.R. Academies (Students That Are Ready) has expanded to approximately one hundred students with many innovative sessions and programs that are designed to develop our students intellectually, socially, spiritually, and emotionally in order that they will become productive citizens in our society. The S.T.A.R. Academy is made possible through a partnership of Lehigh University, participating school districts, area businesses and organizations, parents and college students, who serve as volunteer mentors/tutors
