This non-traditional geomorphic theme will take us to a well-studied, frequently-visited
part of the Appalachians to explore:

 - the evidence for active tectonic deformation
 - active rock uplift (river incision)
 - changes in the pace of landscape evolution and erosional unroofing of an old orogen
 - geodynamics of passive margins
 - impacts of "the impact" (Chesapeake Bay structure)
