How does
one access their AFS Home Directory?
|
1) The first thing you need to
access your AFS Home Directory from linux is set up AFS on your machine.
Please see How does one load AFS on
their linux box? topic for more information.
2) After loading AFS on your machine and rebooting, log back into your
userid.
3) After logging back into your user ID, then type 'klog YourUserID' go
log into AFS.
After you finish with your AFS session, type unlog to log yourself off
AFS.
4) To access your home directory after logging into AFS, do a change directory
to /afs/cc.lehigh.edu/home/{YourCampusID}
5) If you do an ls at this point, you will see that
you are in you AFS home directory.
6) You can make going to your AFS home directory a
little easier by setting up a link in your home directory on your linux box.
To do this, type the following in you home directory on your linux box:
ln -s /afs/cc.lehigh.edu/home/{YourUserID} afs
Then after logging into AFS, you can type 'cd afs' and you will be in your
AFS home directory.
*Note: The afs directory you create in your home directory above
will not work when you are not logged into AFS. When you are not logged
into AFS, it will be an unresolved link. As soon as you log into AFS,
it will be resolved and will work to get you to your AFS home directory.
