I was using it in the context of little cylinder operads, which were expanding sequences of products of little disks operads. I was thinking (equivariantly, actually) of a universe U written as an expanding sequence of inner product spaces, and I was looking at the product of the little disks operads of the resulting direct summands in U. Steiner's operads made my use of little disks unnecessary, but I liked them geometrically. Peter
