Subject: Topology job for list From: Mark Hovey Date: 03 Oct 2005 10:53:03 -0400 Wesleyan is hiring in topology this year, and we welcome applications from anyone who is interested. If you know people not on this list who might be interested, please let them know about this. Wesleyan is one of the top liberal arts schools in the country, so we get very good undergraduate students. We also have a Ph. D. program in mathematics, with about 15-20 students total. Wesleyan is about two hours by car from both Boston and New York City. The person we hire will have to be good at both research and teaching. We are a small department: 13 mathematicians and 5 computer scientists. Thus everyone in the department needs to do significant committee work as well. Note that mathjobs.org is a great AMS innovation for applying online. Here is the official ad. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Wesleyan University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship to begin in the academic year 2006-2007. Candidates must have in hand, or near completion, a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and strong records in both research and teaching. We seek candidates with a research specialization in topology, broadly construed, and are particularly interested in candidates whose research interests will enable interaction with our current faculty. Teaching duties will be two courses per semester, ranging from introductory to doctoral level courses. Wesleyan University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Applications should be submitted by December 15, 2005 and include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement and teaching statement, and at least four letters of recommendation, including one which evaluates teaching. Applications may be submitted online at mathjobs.org or mailed to the following address or e-address: Search Committee, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT 06459. email: mathsearch@math.wesleyan.edu Mark Hovey
