Subject: question on homotopy CP^n

I'm trying to find obstructions(in terms of characteristic classes) for an even
dimensional real smooth manifold to arise from some complex algebraic variety.
Is there any good reference for this?

That's my other question: suppose that X is a complex projective variety which
is homotopy equivalent to the complex projective space.Is it true that X is a
complete intersection? Or,is it isomorphic(diffeomorphic) to the complex
projective space?

Maybe somebody can recommend me a good reference for this.
