Date: Thu, 18 May 2000 10:15:47 -0400 (EDT) From: Daniel Matthes Subject: Topological Inquiry I'm a visiting student at Brown U and I have a topological question, for which nobody here has an answer. So my teacher Dev Sinha recommended to forward this question to you, since you moderate this topology e-mail list. Thanks in advance for any help! Best, Danny. QUESTION: Is there any easy (i.e. other than "Jesus How Confusing" Whitehead's) proof of the fact that every Absolute Neighborhood Retract is of the homotopy type of some locally finite polyhedron? Even a reference for the compact case would be fine!
