Thanks, Andy ---------------------------- Original Message ---------------------------- Subject: Orthopaedic interest in topology From: "fraserharrold" Date: Fri, December 8, 2006 3:01 pm To: a.baker@maths.gla.ac.uk -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Dr Baker I am an orthopaedic surgical trainee on the West of Scotland rotation. I am completing my PhD in Dundee on shoulder joint replacement, specifically on optimising the surgical cut to remove the diseased bone prior to implanting am artificial joint. I have been working on 3D modelling of the geometry of the humerus and collected substantial topographical data using a surface laser scanner. I am trying to locate someone who may be interested in collaborating to investigate the topology of the articular surface of these bones. I have some preliminary data that suggests a transition from spherical to ovoid shape of the articular surface which make reflect it's articulation with the articular surface of the scapula. I wonder whether you might know anyone with an interest in this filed of topology? Many thanks Fraser Fraser Harrold MD PhD Student Academic Dept.
