Dr. Dominic Packer, Assistant Professor

Group Processes Lab
Welcome to the Group Processes Lab at Lehigh University. Human beings work and play, cooperate and compete, live and die in collectives. Our research investigates how individuals manage their identities within groups, and explores the impact of psychological processes on a variety of behaviors including conformity and dissent, self-sacrifice, moral decision-making and prejudice. Given the obvious necessity of group life, we are particularly interested in understanding processes that mitigate against some of groups' more harmful proclivities: in particular, blind conformity to collective norms, intergroup prejudice and moralistic aggression.

Undergraduate Research Assistants

Research experience is a valuable addition to your resume or CV, and reference letters from university faculty are an important component of job and grad/professional school applications. From time to time, we will be looking for research assistants to work on lab projects for pay, course credit and/or on a volunteer basis. If you are interested in working in the lab, please contact Dr. Packer.

Prospective Graduate Students

If you are interested in applying to Lehigh's Ph.D. program in Psychology, please feel free to contact me regarding research in this lab or the program more generally.
