| The Class of 2010 is reviving the tradition of a bed race at Lehigh University during Lehigh / Lafayette week. Open to the entire Lehigh community, a portion of the proceeds will go toward the Gast Scholarship Fund. | ![]() |
The tradition at Lehigh was to hold a bed race each year during Greek Week. The event will revolutionize the former tradition and will be open to the entire Lehigh community. In conjunction with the Spirit of Lehigh Parade and the Bonfire, which has also been resurrected for Lehigh-Lafayette week, reinstating the bed races in a safer manner will continue to build upon the spirit leading up to the Lehigh-Lafayette football game. |
| Teams will be composed of five people: four people pushing the bed and one person riding. Using a “drag race” style, each team will race from the steps of Linderman Library down Library Drive toward the steps of the University Center. | |
The winners of each matchup will move on to face their next opponent in a bracket format. To minimize risk, the beds will be standardized and provided for the participants. Each team will have the opportunity to decorate their bed before the race. Cost per team of five is $100, again, with a portion of the proceeds going toward the Gast Scholarship Fund. |
