To date we have raised $14,500 for the Class of 2009 scholarship. The goal is to get to $50,000 by your 5 year reunion in October 2014
That is only 29% of our goal and we need your help to reach it!
What is the Senior Class Gift?
The Senior Class Gift is a tradition at Lehigh. It is an annual program which encourages seniors to make a gift to the university in an effort to give back to Lehigh before graduating. This year’s project is establishing the named Class of 2009 Scholarship. In order for this scholarship to be awarded, our class must raise $50,000.
How will the Scholarship Fund be used?
To set up the scholarship fund account, our class must raise $10,000. Gifts can be added to the fund for 5 years (until 2014). Once the account reaches $50,000 a portion of the earnings will be awarded as financial aid to students based on their merit and financial need.
How important are endowed scholarships?
Lehigh’s history is deeply rooted in the tradition of giving. In fact, Lehigh was founded with a $500,000 endowment by Asa Packer. Today, Lehigh awards more than $50 million in grants and scholarships per year, 25% of which comes from endowments.
Why should I make a gift?
Everyone that attends Lehigh has benefited greatly from alumni giving. Tuition only covers about 50% of the Lehigh educational experience; much of the rest of the cost is provided through gifts of alumni. Lehigh has provided you with so many memories. Giving to your Senior Class Gift is an opportunity to give back and provide the future generations of Lehigh students can have those same experiences and memories
How much should I give?
We are challenging ALL SENIORS to participate at the “VIP” level by making a gift of $5 each month. If every senior gives this amount, we can raise $63,600 THIS YEAR ALONE. Or become a member of the “21 Club” If you give $21/month, you will become part of Lehigh’s elite giving society, the Asa Packer Society. Membership entitles you to attend exclusive events for Asa Packer Society members only.
What is so great about being a “VIP”?
When you give at the 21 Club or VIP level, you will receive additional perks like discounts for events such as the Brown and White Bash at the Young Alumni Reunion, the Senior formal, and your Senior Week bracelet. The Brown and White Bash will be taking place on October 4th so the earlier you make your gift, the more incentives you’ll be able to take advantage of!
What is the ASA Packer Society?
The ASA Packer Society is Lehigh’s leadership giving society. Members include alumni who give a minimum of $1000 per year. Think of all the networking benefits!
How do I make a gift?
The preferred method of giving is by making recurring gifts using your Visa, MasterCard or American Express. Please visit https://giving.lehigh.edu/seniorclassgift/ to set this up. Pledge cards are also available for those wishing to make their gifts with cash or a check. Senior Class Gift Committee members will be staffed at additional events held throughout the semester to collect gifts.
How else can I get involved?
If you would like to help educate your classmates about the Class of 2009 Scholarship or want to help plan events like the Kick-off, you are invited to become a member of the Senior Class Gift Committee. Please contact Jessica Latona (jal209@lehigh.edu). Students who wish to share their stories and reasons why they chose to support the Senior Class Gift are encouraged to submit a video testimonial. These videos will be compiled as part of the “I give because…” campaign which will be used to promote the Scholarship Fund.
