Mechanical Properties of Laminated Glass
Some years ago I worked on the mechanical properties of glass-polymer-glass laminates for automotive windshields and as architectural (“hurricane-proof”) safety glass. This work had three components: (a) development of a design methodology for first cracking and its incorporation into national and international standards, (b) development of a new class of stiff interlayer materials, and (c) study of fracture and adhesion. My primary collaborator in this work was Steve Bennison.
