The organizing theme for our work is the application of mechanics and computational methods to problems in the processing and properties of materials, especially those related to bioengineering. We combine theory and experiments in our work. Our current interests include the manipulation of carbon nanotubes using biological molecules, biomimetics of fibrillar adhesion in lizards and insects, and the mechanics of soft materials.
