The WAVES Awards (formerly The Women's Recognition Reception)

The Women's Recognition Reception is dedicated to honoring women who work to better their community not only for themselves but also for all of the women with which they share it. Qualities often attributed to these women include passion, creativity, motivation, inspiration, courage, leadership skills, and self-awareness. These women are not committed to the "Superwoman" or "having it all" stereotypes, but they are committed to understanding and seeking out what makes them whole. They are committed to advocating and creating opportunities for women to be able to learn about themselves and seek their own happiness.

In this spirit of equality, the Women's Center opened it's doors for the first time this spring 2009 to nominations honoring both Lehigh women and their "Male Allies" who have made a difference to the lives of women every day both on campus and 'abroad,' simply by being themselves.
