Laptop/Mobile Device Loaner Programs
LTS offers a few loaner programs for students, faculty, and staff to take advantage of. Available devices for loan include: laptops, iPads, and Kindles. All of these devices are Wi-Fi enabled and work with Lehigh's wireless networks.
Library Laptops
Lenovo ThinkPad laptops are available to be borrowed at both the E.W. Fairchild-Martindale and Linderman
libraries. The laptops can be checked out in a similar manner to checking out a book at the circulation desk in
each library. Important facts to know about borrowing these laptops include:
- No charge to borrow
- 4-hour borrowing period
- Take it anywhere
- Pre-loaded with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection, and Virtual Public Site utility
- User account has administrative ability to install software (unlike using a public site machine)
Media Center Laptops
Laptops are also available for rent from the Media Center at $5/day, $25/week, payable with Bursar bill, GoldPLUS, departmental account(requires account executive approval), or by check. There is no charge to borrow a laptop if it is used in a class with a projector and returned the same day. Learn more about equipment rental/borrowing from the Media Center.
iPads, Kindles, and Other e-Readers
Apple iPads, Amazon Kindles, and other e-readers are also available to be borrowed at both libraries. These devices can be checked out the circulation desks in the same way as the laptops; however, with some important differences in borrowing terms. Important facts to know about borrowing these devices include:
- No charge to borrow
- 4-hour borrowing period
- Devices are not permitted to leave the building
- AC adapters are not loaned out with the devices
Sprint Mobile Hotspot Rental for Faculty/Staff
Planning on traveling? Don't pay airport or hotel Wi-Fi fees! The Sprint Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot is a small device that enables up to five devices/computers to access high-speed wireless Internet in a variety of locations. Service is provided via the existing cellular data network.
The Sprint Overdrive mobile hotspot can be rented for $9.99/day for up to five days. Additional days are billed at a reduced rate of $4.99. Your department's account will be billed directly.
