Connecting to Lehigh from Off-Campus
(Using the VPN)
While the Lehigh Portal offers a lot of features via the Internet, it doesn't connect your computer directly to Lehigh's network, so it doesn't give you access to your H-drive, I-drive, Lehigh Library applications, and other secured network features.
But, even if you're working off-campus, you can still connect securely via the internet to Lehigh's network, to access network servers here, and use other network features as if you were here. The Lehigh VPN (Virtual Private Network) can do this for you, and it can be setup automatically with a script or configured manually with a few quick steps.
Again though, remember that using the VPN requires a working (and preferably fast) internet connection.
Web Connection
For Windows XP users, the VPN can be accessed via a completely automated web script by simply pointing your browser at https://vpn.lehigh.edu.
Automatic Installer Scripts
These programs automatically configure a VPN connection for you, using your operating system's built-in client, and for Windows users, it also automatically connects your Lehigh network drives. Note that Macs, once connected to the VPN, will still need to run additional scripts or programs to connect their network drives.
