WIRED has some quick hints on finding out whether you've already got it or not.
Unfortunately for WIRED, the "stuff under the hood" has been so significantly re-organized that several of the programs in the Lehigh Mac Suite simply don't function. That does not mean, however that you can't connect. Below is a list of links or procedures for work-arounds for each of the Mac Suite functions. They're slow and geeky, but bear with us -- we are working on a new version of the Mac Suite.
- How do I connect to the H-Drive?
- Click on the desktop (switch to the Finder)
- Under the "Finder" menu, select "Preferences."
- Check the box by "Connected Servers" so that network volumes
appear on the desktop, and close that window.
- Under the "Go" menu, select "Connect to Server. . "
- In the box labelled "Server Address:" type one of the following,
depending the starting letter of your username:
- For A-H type:
"cifs://home10.ad.lehigh.edu/a-h/your_user_name"
- For I-L type:
"cifs://home11.ad.lehigh.edu/i-l/your_user_name"
- For M-Z type:
"cifs://home12.ad.lehigh.edu/m-z/your_user_name"
- Click the "Connect" button.
- In the authentication window that comes up, enter your Lehigh username, password, and, if desired, check off the box to have these credentials saved.
- If the connection works, you'll see the drive appear on the desktop. Click the plus sign in the "Connect to Server" window to save that server address in the favorites window.
- For added convenience, make an alias for the drive by holding down the "ctrl" key, clicking on the drive icon, and selecting "Make Alias" from the menu. When the alias icon appears, rename it to something like "Lehigh H Drive", drag it to your documents folder, and then to the right side of your Dock.
- How do I connect to Printers?
The best way to connect printers is to use the Printers website. The selector will allow you to download an AppleScript file, which you can run, and which will install the selected printer. (It's not perfected for Leopard either -- it throws an error, but the correct connections are actually made.)
- How do I connect to the wireless network?
Follow this procedure
- What about connecting from off-campus? (Using the VPN)
We do have a configuration script for the vpn on the security page.
