Welcome to Sustainability at Lehigh

Sustainability is reconciliation of environmental stewardship, social equity and economic responsibility. Lehigh University has made great strides over the years to address the importance of integrating sustainability into our academic and operational processes.

Sustainability efforts have occurred on this campus for decades, but have solidified more recently. Initiatives include President Gast's Climate Commitment, the formation of the Environmental Initiative and a presidential advisory group - the Lehigh Environmental Advisory Group (LEAG) -- as well as the university's Strategic Plan, which includes a focus on addressing issues related to energy, environment and infrastructure.

Our commitment has also grown to include funding innovative student projects (e.g. Green Fund), encouraging advancements in reducing energy use (trayless dining, building retrofits, green purchasing guidelines) and supporting projects that engage the campus community (community gardens, Greenway project). We encourage you to learn more about Lehigh's sustainability efforts by exploring our site.
