Neil McGurty has spent most of the last fifteen years in the international arena as a teacher, scholar, diplomat, and higher education administrator. At Lehigh University he is the Director of International Programs, and the Study Abroad Office.

Neil was a career member of the United States Foreign Service, and served in various diplomatic positions at US Embassies in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Belarus. He was also a Peace Corps Volunteer in Latvia, as well as a Fulbright Scholar at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga.

Neil received an MPA from the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University, where he was a Sergeant Shriver Scholar, an MA from California State University Pomona, and a BA from California State University San Luis Obispo. Neil is the recipient of a number of awards in the international arena including several from the Department of State, notably several Meritorious Honor Awards and the Service Award for Diplomatic Readiness.

Neil is the father of Maryam and Dmitry McGurty, and the husband of Lehigh Associate Professor, Iveta Silova McGurty.
