PROGRAM OVERVIEW

In January 2013, Professors Jill Brown and Douglas Mahony will accompany a group of 10-12 students to study business in Singapore over a 9-day period before classes begin for the spring semester.  This program is part of Lehigh’s Global Initiative within the College of Business and Economics; it is a global lab elective to accompany the MGT 301 Business Management Policies course.  As a result, students have the opportunity to travel and learn about business in this dynamic country at a significantly reduced cost.

Singapore lies on the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, with 1 main island and 63 offshore islands.  It was recently voted the most innovation-friendly country in the world by BusinessWeek magazine in 2009.  Over the course of 9 days, students will interact with key Singapore business stakeholders, business owners, business executives, professors, college students, and government officials.  The goal of the trip is to integrate global academic concepts from the MGT 301 Business Management Policies course with the realities and functioning of business in Singapore. The trip will provide an invaluable opportunity for students to gain global experience in an innovative, dynamic market.

This program is selective and students are encouraged to contact Professor Brown before the fall semester begins to schedule an interview.  Applications for the program are due October 10, 2012 and students will be notified of their acceptance by November 1, 2012.

Students may take MGT 301 in the fall or the spring semesters to be considered for this trip.  Once selected, students will register for MGT 372 (Global Lab) in the spring semester.  Additional information may be found in the links to the flier and application below.
