Please follow these steps prior to going abroad:
- Sign waiver forms (Appendix B: Study Abroad Guidebook, Cost and Conditions)
- Understand cancellation policies and policies/rules that apply if you leave the program early
- Find out address/contact information for embassy/consulate abroad on Consular Information Sheet for your host country U.S. Department of State Consular Information then register your trip on the U.S. Department of State Travel Registration. - Arrange power of attorney for a family member, if necessary (see Study Abroad Guidebook)
- Consider registering expensive items you are taking abroad with U.S. Customs and Border Protection
- Read Travel Warnings and State Department Consular sheets for information on the legal systems in the countries to which you will be traveling U.S. Department of State Consular Information.
